Manufacturers of affordable Canadian Model Railway equipment
The RS-23/S-13 model page.
Since word of the this project in HO and N scale spread, we received lots of emails and requests and offers of assistance. We answered the emails, we looked at the requests, and we took all the assistance we could get. We wanted to make our first Affordable, Accurate locomotive. Personally I like the RS-23's, on CP Way freights and the original S-13's that once ran around Toronto. Aside form that there are the BC Rail ones, OSR, Kidd creek Mines and so much more. There are so many varitions on these that we wanted to get most of the mods as we could on the single foundation. Some of you were assisting us in the beginning stages, and now a lot more of you are helping us bring it to life.. At the very most, we would like to have a ready to run model in HO and N. At the very least an easy to build (or already painted shell). What is going to determine this will simply be price. These models will be as accurate as operationally possible, but affordable to everyones budget.
We started off by thinking of having the shell cast in pewter, there would be no flash, excellent detail and lots of weight. However, so far the quotes are coming in on the pricey side so we will see where we end up on this. Casting the shell out of plastic is a peice of cake and we may do this anyways for other reasons. Ths frame will definaeltey be made from metal (and the fuel tank too). We have designedn all drive components to sit low in the frame so that there is plenty of room for a sound decoder. and/or other items. Currently we are looking at suitable motors, the gears and trucks are a non issue, and the RS-23 trucks we made in house work well. The main foundation will consist of the frame and hood, simliar to the pics below. All details not shown here are added on to this part including door handles, headlights (several styles), exhaust stacks, top screens/ front screens etc etc etc, All Version specific depending on what road you are modeling. This broadly includes as built locos through to S-13u's and a lot of variation in between. There are several styles of cabs as well, and our famous pre-printed windows which work oh so well, and look great.
We will post more as things come together. As always if you have any info to share, or a suggestion to make please do not hesitate to contact us or you local hobby dealer.
